MAMANDA’S ORAL LITERATURE IN INDONESIA: REVIEW OF THE FORM AND FUNCTION OF HUMOR THROUGH A PRAGMATIC PERSPECTIVE

This research was conducted for eight months on the island of South Kalimantan, Indonesia. study examines Mamanda. Mamanda is a traditional Kalimantan theater that still survives in global era. liked because it rich humor can entertain entire audience and relieve fatigue invite laughter. However, if interpreted more deeply, has pragmatic function wants to convey its listeners. Therefore, this deeply aims describe form uses descriptive qualitative method. The data study, recording Mamanda's performance, played at Parade, series events commemorate anniversary Banjarmasin, Kalimantan. informants consisted twenty people with different backgrounds, all whom were players who an active role show. method used results detail using clear sentences. showed there four types mamanda, namely, language humor, behavioral gossiping pornographic humor. functions are as advising, criticism, satire, tolerance.
